Stuck Bus.

When I was seventeen, I had to leave the city I was born in to move to other in order to study at college. From that moment, I got used to travel alone to visit my family on weekends. The bus always arrives at my hometown five hours after we leave the bus station. But this time, it took so much more. It is also important to say that, before the bus arrives, the road takes us by the middle of a long paramo. There, it is cold, and there is no phone signal.

I got on the bus at 5 p.m. which means that my parents were waiting for me at 10 p.m. The trip was alright, I slept a lot, I listened to music, and I talked with the passenger right next to me. It was getting dark. It was 9 p.m. and we were crossing that paramo. Sadly, the bus got stuck. I still don’t understand what was the problem with the bus, but the driver and his assistant were not able to fix the damage. We were almost twenty passengers, and none of them could catch any signal on their phones to ask for help. And it started to rain. We had nothing to do. Fortunately, some people were optimistic about it and they tried to make us laugh and calm down a little bit.

We spent almost an hour trying to contact someone who helps us, with no result. When someone finally could call 911, they told us that they could not help us because there were no hurt people. So, we tried to stop other buses for help but none of them stopped. I was worried because my parents didn’t know anything about me. I had no signal and no battery power, so it was off. I was worried that they thought that we had an accident and I didn’t have the chance to call them and say that I was fine.

After a long time, an empty bus stopped in front of us. They were sent by the bus company. Its driver said that when we didn’t arrive, they heard about a stuck bus in the paramo. So, the company sent an empty bus to take us to the city. When we arrived, I left the bus,  got into my parents’ car, and told them the whole story. I discovered that they were not worried at all. They never thought about an accident and when they heard about the stuck bus, they just waited until the problem gets solved.

I discovered that I was worried that they get worried. So, I learned to stay calm when difficulties arise. And to be sure that I have a full battery in my cellphone to call when I need it. Thank God, nothing bad happened, and when I remember that story I just laugh.
