Mi treasured photo.

Imagen
When you take a photo, you can picture a moment. I recognize that this photo can be weird at first sight, but for me, it has a lot of meaning. This photo brings a lot of memories back to my mind. This photo was taken in the middle of a celebration. We were celebrating the end of 2016. For each Christmas and New Year's eve, my family and I try to make something different. For example, we like to dress in one specific color, or wear pajamas. This time, we had to try to use some kind of costume. This New Year’s Eve was really crazy. This photo was taken a few minutes before we get dinner. I still remember the peace all of us felt that night. The whole family went there. I can still smell the turkey we ate that night. I can still taste those twelve juicy grapes at 12 o clock. I can still remember everyone dancing and celebrating, hugging each other when the pyrotechnics started to illuminate the night dark sky. This photo is really important for me. This is one of the last photos...

Living in my hometown and living in another city.

People who have got independent or left their parents’ house to study understand that it is so difficult to leave home. I lived in Guaranda for seventeen years but I had to move to Quito for studying at college. All my childhood memories are related to Guaranda. Now, I have lived in Quito for seven years and life has changed a lot. I’ll compare and contrast both lifestyles. My life in Guaranda was pretty simple. I lived with my parents and they gave me everything I needed. I was used to going to school in the mornings and when I got back home, my mother always waited with a delicious and warm lunch. My parents have a car, so if we needed something, my father just picked me up wherever I was and dropped me wherever I wanted. And when I got sick, they used to call my doctor, bring me to his office, buy my medicine, cook for me, and keep me warm. Life in Guaranda was wonderful, it was like a dream. I always felt protected, never felt alone, and I’ll always miss my grandmother serving the ...

Special dish

Guaranda is a small city where you can try fascinating food. I was born there and I was used to eating dishes that I thought everybody knew. But when I left, I discovered that I can not get those dishes at a restaurant. And I love going back to taste again the food I grew with. I will write about elenitas. Elenitas are a kind of cookie. They are called like that because the lady who made it first was called Elena. These delicious hard “cookies” are made from cornmeal. They look like cookies with color dragees. When you bite them you can hear that they are crunchy. They are used to left crumbs because of that. The most impressive thing about them is their taste. Elenitas are sweet, however, they get dry in your mouth. This is because of cornmeal. People from Ecuador often related Elenitas to “moncaibas”, but they are not even close in flavor and texture. Elenitas are perfect with a cup of milk or alone. This is definitely something you have to try.
